Escrevo agora de Curitiba, capital do Paraná e a maior cidade da região Sul do Brasil (Senso/2010): aqui está um friozinho bem gostoso!! Chegamos aqui hoje e demos as boas vindas a mais 5 intercambistas que se juntaram ao grupo nessa Aventura Sul Americana. Nikolai, Adriana, Lucille, Benedikte e Yuri: sejam bem vindos!

I write now from Curitiba, capital of Paraná state and the biggest city of the south region: here is a nice chilly weather!! We arrived here today and received 5 more exchange students who will join us at this amazing South American Adventure. Nikolai, Adriana, Lucille, Benedikte and Yuri: welcome! Tomorrow starts our tours here.

Foz do Iguaçu / Iguassu Falls

Bom dia!!

Ainda estamos aqui nessa maravilhosa cidade! Desde a ultima vez que escrevi muita coisa aconteceu!

Segunda-feira fomos para as Cataratas no Parque Nacional Del Iguazú, na Argentina. Perdemos o fôlego ao chegarmos na “Garganta del Diablo”! Com seu volume enorme e uma força gigantesca, a água caía formando uma cortina de fumaça! Logo após o passeio, fomos para o Duty Free da cidade de Puerto Iguazú; os estudantes ficaram muito felizes, pois conseguiram comprar chocolates, balas e chicletes típicos de seus países! À noite, um espetáculo cultural: fomos jantar no Rafain Churrascaria Show, um restaurante com uma variedade gigantesca de comida, churrasco e música. No Rafain, teve uma apresentação após o jantar de danças típicas de vários países. Todos adoraram e alguns ate participaram do show, certo Mike?!?!?!

Na terça-feira após o café da manhã fomos visitar o Paraguai! Os meninos se esbaldaram; compraram malas, tênis, casacos, meias, eletrônicos... tudo a um preço muito baixo! Voltamos para o hotel e à noite, fomos jantar em um restaurante onde comemos um delicioso rodízio de pizza!

Ontem fomos conhecer Itaipu: uma gigantesca usina hidrelétrica! Ela é considerada uma das sete maravilhas da engenharia moderna, de acordo com a lista publicada pela revista “Popular Mechanics”, dos Estados Unidos. Depois, partimos para uma grande aventura; fomos para o Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, no lado Brasileiro onde tivemos a oportunidade de fazer o Macuco Safári Ride, um radical passeio de barco no Rio Iguaçu pelo lado de baixo das cataratas! O barco, em alguns momentos, fica EMBAIXO das cataratas, o que da uma mistura de medo com excitamento, além de todos saírem totalmente encharcados! Todos simplesmente amaram! Fizemos também uma caminhada de mais ou menos 1 km pelo parque e tiramos nossa foto em grupo nesse cenário perfeito! A noite...mais emoção! Jantamos em nosso hotel e logo em seguida tivemos o tão esperado Show de Talentos! Foram 05 apresentações com direito a muita risada e diversão!!!

Daqui a pouquinho, logo após o café, vamos nos despedir dessa maravilhosa cidade e seguiremos viagem para Curitiba, a capital desse maravilhoso estado!!! Vamos nos despedir também dos intercambistas que optaram pelo tour somente a Foz: vamos sentir saudade de vocês Elena, Constance, Nicole, Berthold, Wakana, Tamara e Marion!!!

We still are here, in this wonderful city! A lot happened since the last time we sent news!

On Monday as I told you we went to visit the falls at the National Park of Iguazú, in Argentina. We got breathless when we saw the “Devil´s Throat”! With its huge amount of water and an unimaginable power, the water fell, showing a smoke curtain! Just after we went to Puerto Iguazu duty-free store! The students were really happy because they got to buy chocolates, candies and chewing gums typical from their countries! At night, a cultural spectacle: we went to Rafain Churrascaria (a Brazilian steak house), with a great variety of food, meat and music. There, we saw a presentation of typical dances from different countries after dinner and some students even participated of the show, right Mike?!?!?!

On Tuesday after breakfast we went to Paraguay! The exchange students just loved it; they bought bags, tennis shoes, coats, socks, and electronic stuff! Everything at very short rates! At night we went to a restaurant, where we ate some delicious all you can eat pizza!! Yesterday we went to Itaipú, a huge hydroelectric power plant! It is considered one of the seven wonders in modern engineering, according to the American magazine “Popular Mechanics”. Then we left for a great adventure; we went to the National Park of Iguassu in the Brazilian side, where we had the chance to make the EXCITING Macuco Safari Ride, a boat ride on the Iguassu river! The boat sometimes gets UNDER the falls, which brings us a blend of fear and excitement, besides getting TOTALLY wet! The students simply adored it! At the park, we went for a 1 km walk and took our group picture with this amazing view! At night, after dinner we had the so expected Talent Show: we had 5 presentations!!!!! We had a lot of fun! Today, after breakfast, we will say goodbye to this marvelous city and continue our trip to the capital of Paraná state: Curitiba! We will also say goodbye to the students who just choose the tour to Iguassu Falls: We’ll miss you guys - Elena, Constance, Nicole, Berthold, Wakana, Tamara and Marion!!! I’ll send more news as soon as possible!

Boa noite a todos!!!

Chegamos a Foz do Iguaçu, cidade localizada à margem do Rio Paraná, na fronteira com o Paraguai e Argentina. É uma das cidades brasileiras mais visitadas por turistas de todo o mundo!!

Chegamos agora, depois de quase 26 horas de viagem e uma parada técnica para descanso e segurança, para não fazermos viagens noturnas. Saímos de Belo Horizonte dia 26 de Março com 14 estudantes de diversas partes do Brasil e também nosso Chaperone Reinaldo do distrito 4560, e no caminho tivemos dois outros embarques: Uberaba e Araçatuba. Apesar desse tempo grande de viagem, nem notamos as horas passarem; assistimos muitos filmes e DVDs de outras viagens e claro, sempre uma vista maravilhosa!!

Daqui a pouco vamos ter a Orientação Geral da viagem, na qual daremos várias dicas de como aproveitar melhor o tempo, cuidar da saúde dentre outras informações importantes e muito úteis aos estudantes. Alguns estudantes ainda vieram direto para Foz, fechando o grupo dessa primeira parte da viagem!

Amanhã já começam os passeios por aqui. Vamos visitar outro País: a Argentina! Visitaremos as Cataratas no Parque Nacional Del Iguazú. Hoje oficialmente começa nosso fantástico tour a essa região do Brasil! Mando mais noticias assim que possível!

Good evening to everyone!

We are in Foz do Iguaçu, a town located on the border of Paraná River, also city where Paraguay and Argentina bounders Brazil. It is one of the most visited cities in Brazil by the tourist from all over the world.

We just arrived here, after about 26-hours road trip and one night at a hotel on our way here not only to rest, but to the safety of all of us because we do not travel at night! We left Belo Horizonte on March 26th, with 14 students from all over, (including our Chaperone Reinaldo from District 4560), and on the way we had other people boarding in Uberaba and Araçatuba. Although such a long trip, we didn’t see time passing by; we watched many movies and DVDs of other trips, and of course, enjoyed the perfect view of the way here!

Tonight we will have our General Orientation for this trip, when we will give many tips on how to spend the time better, take good care of the health and other important and useful information for the students. We have some other exchange students who came straight to Foz and arrived here this afternoon and some will arrive tomorrow, so the group will be complete at this first part of the trip!

Tomorrow, after breakfast, we will start our tours here. We are visiting another country: Argentina! We are going to see the falls at the National Park of Iguazú. Officially today we start our tour through this part of Brazil! I will send you more news as soon as possible!
